Fibromyalgia is a Central Nervous System Disorder
Neurologically-Based Chiropractic Can Likely Help
Fibromyalgia can be a debilitating condition that often just gets worse under medical care. In fact, the drugs used to treat fibromyalgia usually lead to a wide range of side effects, which complicates matters even more. Some of the possible side effects include “decreased cognitive and motor skills, difficulty speaking, dizziness, vision problems, fatigue, fever, jerky movements, sleepiness, temporary memory loss, tremor, unusual eye spasms, viral infection, dry mouth, bloating, male fertility problems and weight gain.”
The fact that this is a complex condition (see chart below), clearly shows that nervous system dysfunction plays a very strong role, and specific, neurologically-based chiropractic care can very likely help. According to one review, fibromyalgia “comprises not only chronic widespread pain, fatigue and sleep alterations but also autonomic disturbances, cognitive dysfunction, hypersensitivity to external stimuli, somatic symptoms and psychiatric disorders.”
Over the years, our unique approach has helped many to resolve and even prevent this condition before they were labelled with a diagnosis and chronically drugged by the medical industry. One of our clients this year finally came to us for help after having an adverse reaction to pharmaceutical treatment by a fibromyalgia specialist. Her problems first began over 30 years ago and was diagnosed about 10 years ago. After consistent care for only 6 months, she says, “My quality of life has improved tenfold. I have full mobility back and the chronic pain from the fibromyalgia is much less!” She also noticed that her “stress and anxiety levels are much lower.” Another client that also began care this year after struggling for over 7 years and being diagnosed 5 years ago, has also been able to achieve good results after just 4 months of regular care.
As this is primarily a disorder of the nervous system, healing takes time, patience, and perseverance. Being dependent on neurotoxic and nutrient-depleting drugs is certainly not the solution. With the help of specific chiropractic care, focused lifestyle changes, and a positive mindset, full recovery is definitely possible.
